Interaction and Mediation Fluent oral and written communication using vocabulary from Bands 1-3, knowledge of syntax and linguistic register suitable for familiar and unfamiliar social contexts. Communicating with language speakers from a variety of cultural backgrounds and language levels. Developing oral and written fluency based on a sense of self-efficacy. 2. Written and Spoken Reception Reading a variety of printed and digital texts in different lengths, complexity and genres, books, tables and charts. Extracting information from texts while applying linguistic knowledge and vocabulary for a variety of purposes. 3. Written and Spoken Production incorporating communicative and linguistic competences Organization and presentation of ideas and information written or spoken in a variety of subjects using vocabulary (Bands 1-3), linguistic knowledge, dialogue patterns and register suitable to the target audience. Written and oral products may vary from simple to complex and may vary in length, genre and register (eg.,formal, informal, argumentative). Writing and presenting a research project (mini paper) that includes integrating sources of information and answering a research question on a chosen subject. Written products may appear in print and/or in digital media. 4. Appreciation of Literary texts to enhance language acquisition Reading a variety of literary texts of different lengths and different genres in order to enhance language acquisition. Developing awareness of the differences between English as a second / foreign language and the first language of learners in vocabulary, morphology, linguistic knowledge and cultural and social conventions. Appreciation of literary works written in English. Developing critical thinking and tolerance towards a variety of cultures, values and perspectives. 5. Oral and written vocabulary for receptive and productive uses Identification, understanding, reading, writing and pronunciation of 5,400 words, language chunks and expressions that appear in the curriculum 2020 in all three levels of study. 6. Grammar in contextRecognition of complex grammatical and syntactic rules according to the curriculum 2020 The application of linguistic knowledge in different contexts in accordance with the objectives and lists in the English curriculum.
