Knowledge

By the end of 3^rd grade pupils will:

1.  Aural-oral exposure
   • Exposure to language and linguistic richness (e.g. songs, dialogues, short stories)
   • Readability: Phonological and phonetic awareness, oral vocabulary teaching, division into syllables, construction of basic vocabulary in language in content categories

2.  Basic Vocabulary Building: Pre-Foundation Band I

3. Listening Comprehension - understanding instructions

   • The student can understand learned songs and stories

   • The student can hold a short conversation - for example: What’s your name? / I live in / I’m 8 years old / Good morning / I’m fine thank you / I like.

4.  Development of phonetic awareness and knowledge of the letters - recognizing, reading and writing the letters.

5. Initial reading - fluent reading of learned words

6. Initial Writing- Writing learned words, writing short sentences based on learned Words
